Crosscreek provides opportunities for spiritual formation and discipleship for all age groups. Our goal is to help one another grow more deeply in love with God and find ourselves transformed in the process. No matter who you are (or who your children are) we have a space for you to grow and experience God. While we do offer some activities that take place for a particular season, like a Lenten Study or Formation Retreat, many of our activities occur with a regular rhythm, helping us to focus on being centered with our Creator.
Get Involved
At Crosscreek, we believe that regardless of how one chooses to get involved in Spiritual Formation, it is a fundamental part of learning to follow the Way of Jesus. We hope you will be able to attend one or more of our gatherings and find yourself loved and challenged in person. If, however, you can’t make it, we hope you will utilize the latest resources on our resources page, which include recordings and writings that will help to guide you on your journey.
SUNDAYS
Children
On Sunday Mornings at 9:00 AM, we offer several Sunday School classes for every age group. Nursery care is provided for our youngest children. Our preschool aged children (ages 3-5) are taught about God’s love for them in a creative and enjoyable environment. Our oldest children are taught through Godly Play, a story-based approach to helping our 1st through 6th graders learn the great narrative of God’s love for humanity. All of our children’s workers are screened and trained to keep our young ones safe. No matter what age your child, there is a place ready at Crosscreek!
Youth
Our youth meet together on Sunday mornings to study Scripture and spend time with one another in fellowship. This gathering utilizes the Faith Element curriculum. Faithelement is a free online Bible study curriculum for youth and adults that uses multiple forms of media — video, music, text, images — to help groups explore faith and the scriptures.
On the first Sunday of every month, our youth (and parents) enjoy a time of fellowship together over food immediately following worship. This is a great time for families to bond together and share with one another.
On every Sunday evening except the first Sunday of the month, our youth meet at 5:00 to further study the Christian faith. This informal gathering is currently centered around the topic of “Old Testament Prophets – What They Didn’t Tell You in Children’s Sunday School!”.
Adults
There are a variety of options for Sunday morning formation for adults at Crosscreek. We have three adult classes open to all, regardless of age or gender. These classes study various materials, and an updated list of their current offerings can be found here. If you have questions about a particular class, please don’t hesitate to give us a call at the church office – (205) 663-4886.
WEDNESDAY EVENINGS
Wednesday Evening Meal
At 5:30 on Wednesdays, everyone is invited to eat together in the Fireside Room. The menu varies from week to week and reservations can be made by calling the church office at (205) 663-4886.
Children
On Wednesdays our children begin their time of formation at 6:15. They are divided into two groups by age (with nursery care for the youngest). Our preschoolers and kindergartners study the Form curriculum which explores the lives of CBF missionaries around the world.
Our 1st through 6th graders experience M&M (Music and Mission). They spend some of their time in a children’s choir environment, learning ways to use their voices to sing praises to God, and part of their time learning about different avenues of mission service.
Youth
At 6:15 on Wednesdays, our youth engage in “Downtime”. This is a midweek time of contemplative prayer and a space for reconnecting with each other in the midst of busy schedules.
Adults
At 6:15, our adults begin a time of prayer for the community. Following this prayer time, our adults engage in a variety of studies that are designed to lead us as a congregation and as individuals into a deeper relationship with God. Regardless of the topic, this time of dialogical reflection always manages to help all participants think more deeply about how to live out our faith.
Recordings from many of these sessions can be found on our resources page.
